Defense Mechanism

You’ve built walls so high
Your garden is deprived of light
Where the birds used to perch
Turned withered sorry plights
You chase away those who come
Knocking on your door of bolts
Locked up in blankets of solitude
Casting your thoughts into revolt
Pray you find strength
To let the sun kiss your cheeks in sin
And endow the world with the blush
Of your feathery innocent skin
It’s okay to break apart
For even I have survived the blight
After losing sight
Of what once held me so tight
